Hythe, from canal to coast.
Hythe’s character reflects its Cinque Port heritage, its old town and the long stretch of shingle beside the Channel.
The Royal Military Canal
Built between 1804 and 1809 as a defence against a feared Napoleonic invasion, the canal now offers a peaceful waterside route through Hythe and beyond.
St Leonard’s Church
High above the town, St Leonard’s has stood since around 1100. Its medieval stonework remains one of Hythe’s most recognisable landmarks.
A long seafront
Hythe’s pebble beach and promenade stretch towards Sandgate, linking the historic town to the open coast and wide Channel views.
