Tenterden, the Jewel of the Weald.
A historic market town with a distinctive High Street, a landmark church and a railway that still brings steam trains into town.
The heritage railway
The railway reached Tenterden Town in 1903. Today the Kent & East Sussex Railway runs heritage trains from here through the Wealden countryside towards Bodiam.
St Mildred’s Church
Its medieval church and striking 15th-century tower have long been part of Tenterden’s skyline, rising above the town centre.
The High Street greens
Markets once took place on the town’s greens. Trees planted in the 1870s helped create the leafy High Street that Tenterden is known for today.
